GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Samuel Johnson, a freshman tight end and half-back from Flower Mound, Texas out of Coram Deo Academy has been named D3football.com All-Region III, Third Team Offense for the 2023 season. Johnson was named Honorable Mention All-Conference in Southern Athletic Association voting. 

Johnson led the Southwestern Pirates in receiving yards with 378 on the season. He played and started in all ten games for the Pirates in 2023 while also leading the team in receiving yards per game with 37.8. Johnson collected one touchdown on the year and helped the Pirate offense to over 2000 yards receiving. In addition, Johnson led the team in receptions, averaging 14.5 yards per reception while gaining 393 total all purpose yards in his first year with the program.
