Southwestern downed by Texas Lutheran in season finale, 58-3

GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Southwestern University football team suffered a 58-3 setback against No. 18 Texas Lutheran in the season finale Saturday night at Birkelbach Field.

The Bulldogs (8-2, 3-0 SCAC) captured the league title after jumping out to a 58-0 lead.

The Pirates (2-8, 0-3 SCAC) managed only a field goal in the fourth quarter, as Laith Tucker drilled a 27-yard attempt.

Texas Lutheran rolled up 601 yards of total offense, while Southwestern was limited to 256.

Bryan Hicks threw for 183 yards, while Ben Patterson caught five passes for 43 yards.

Taylor Fann and Aaron Robinson both logged seven tackles to pace the Pirates' defense. Justin Broussard added six stops, including 3.5 for loss, and 2.5 sacks.

Prior to the game, Southwestern honored its lone senior – Nick Mask, who is the first senior football player at the institution since 1950. Mask logged three tackles, including one for loss, in his final game.
