Over the next eight days, we will feature each of the positions for the Southwestern University football team ahead of the 2015 season opener on Sept. 5 at Hardin-Simmons. Below is a schedule of the position previews.

Aug. 27 – Offensive line
Aug. 28 – Defensive line
Aug. 29 – Running backs
Aug. 30 – Linebackers
Aug. 31 – Wide receivers/tight ends
Sept. 1 – Defensive backs
Sept. 2 – Special teams
Sept. 3 – Quarterbacks

A majority of the offensive line returns for the upcoming campaign under assistant coach Tim Byerly. The core group of Will Devine, Dereck Harenda, Andrew Pratt and PJ Quinters are back for another year protecting the quarterback and creating lanes for the Pirates' running backs.

"Up front, it's important we play as a unit," Byerly said. "Having another year together is going to be extremely important for us."

Byerly describes this year's group of offensive linemen as "workers." He says they come to work each day, strive to improve and take their role on the team seriously.
