PIRATES HAVE GOOD SHOWING AT TARLETON RELAYS

Results

Southwestern University's track team traveled to Stephenville, Texas to participate in the Tarleton Relays and had some solid performances from the Pirates, posting five top five finishes at the meet.

Juniors Laura Kromann and Tami Warner had the best individual finishes of the day. Kromann placed fourth in the 800 meter dash, finishing in a time of 2:32.29. She missed out of third place by just .03 seconds and second by .37 seconds.

Warner also earned a fourth place finish in the 1500 meter run. She finished in a time of 5:02.89 and was only .23 seconds out of third place.

First-year Jodi Wilson came in fifth place in the 400 meter hurdles with at time of 1:18.63 while first-year Nekia Tharps took seventh in the 100 meter dash (13.12) and sixth in the long jump (4.77m).

The women's relays came in 4th, 7th and 9th place. The women's 4x100 placed fourth in a time of 53.94. The 4x400 'A' relay team took seventh in 4:26.25 and the 'B' relay team ended in ninth at 4:43.73.

Junior Avery Sheppard had the highest men's individual finish of the day, placing in tenth in the 110 meter hurdles. Sheppard's time of 15.82 was less than a second out of third place and only 1.60 seconds off of the first place time.

Junior Matthew Broussard had a great run in the 800 meter dash, bettering his seed time and finishing in 2:07.22 for 12th place.

The men's relay teams place in fourth, sixth and tenth place. The 4x100 earned fourth place, bettering their seed time and finishing in 44.81. In the 4x400 meter relay, the 'A' team finished in 3:37.15 for sixth place while the 'B' team placed tenth in a time of 3:57.58.
