Jeanne Bulla '82 played volleyball for the Southwestern Pirates from 1978 to 1982. She was SU's first woman volleyball player to make the NAIA's First Team All-America. The AIAW and the NAIA recognized her in 1981 as the top front line player in the Southwest. She was chosen for first team honors, All Big State Conference, NAIA District IV, NAIA All-Tournament and NAIA All-America. At 6'1", co-captain Bulla was an excellent server and spiker as well as a leader for SU's nationally ranked women's team. In 1981, she led the Pirates to first place in the Big State Conference, first place in NAIA District IV, first place in Bi-District IV and VIII and second place in the national championships. In 1984, Bulla became a fire fighter for the City of Austin. She is now a captain and an administrator for the department.
