Medrano leads men’s cross country with top 10 finish

ABILENE – Alex Medrano paced the way for the Southwestern University men's cross country with a top 10 finish at the Hardin-Simmons Stampede.

Medrano finished seventh and was the top NCAA Division III runner in the race as he crossed the finish line with a time of 21:53.35. The junior helped the Pirates to a fourth place finish as McMurry and UT-Permian Basin crossed the first line first and second.

Abraham Devenport was the second Pirate to cross the finish line with a time of 24:25.76 and was followed by Kyle Bauernschmitt at 24:54.09.

Mauro Garcia, Hector Aleman and Joey Quintero rounded out the team scoring for Southwestern on the 6400-meter course in Abilene.

Southwestern will take a week off before heading south for the Incarnate Word Invitational in San Antonio October 11.
