Men's Cross Country Competes In NCAA Regionals

CLAREMONT, Calif. — Southwestern men's cross country competed in the NCAA Regionals, finishing 22nd with a team score of 608 and an average time of 28:42.3. 

Two-time All-SCAC runner Noah Dennis paced the Pirates with a time of 27:42.7, finishing 103rd. Freshmen Xander Bailey and Brian Armijo followed next for Southwestern. Bailey clocked in at 28:00.5, placing 115th and Armijo clocked in at 28:21.9 for a 126th-place finish. 

Seniors C.P. Shaulis and Doug Ginsberg were the next two Pirates to cross the finish line, finishing at 29:27.9 and 29.58.4 for 144th and 150th-place finishes. Finally, senior Nathan Botros and freshman Luke Markey clocked in at the 30-minute mark. Botros finished in 30:29.6 to finish 158th and Markey at 30:42.8 to finish 161st. 

Pomona-Pitzer won the event with five runners in the top 10 and an average time of 25:08.4. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps's Stevie Steinberg was the individual winner with a time of 24:47.3.
