Fifth and Sixth Innings Push Pirates Past DeSales

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern Baseball (3-5) successfully ended their five-game drought after beating DeSales University (4-3) in a neutral site game at Trinity University in San Antonio. The Bulldogs led the Pirates 2-1 headed into the top of the fifth inning. But the Pirate's offense exploded in the fifth, going for five runs and following it up with six more in the sixth inning. Southwestern's eleven runs in two innings led them to a 12-4 win over DeSales. 

HIGHLIGHTS

  • In six at-bats, Maxwell Mims recorded three hits including one two-run home run. 
  • James Vaquero led the team in RBIs with four on the night and two hits. 
  • Greg Ferguson went six innings, totaling eleven strikeouts, and just two earned runs. 

NOTES

  • Southwestern had forty-four at-bats as a team throughout the game. 
  • Four Pirates racked up multiple RBIs, including Tres Organ and Jake Harris.
  • Ferguson threw sixty-two strikes in twenty-four batters faced.
  • The Pirate's defense turned two double plays on the night.
