RICHARDSON, Texas — The Southwestern baseball team avenged an earlier home loss to the University of Texas at Dallas Comets with a 6-4 road victory to win its second straight game.

Southwestern got production throughout the lineup. Leadoff hitter Hayden Craig led the Pirates with a 2-for-4 performance at the plate, driving in two RBIs with a run scored, and Maxwell Mims and Jacob Tanner had identical 2-for-5 performances with one RBI and run scored each from the middle of the lineup.

Landon Durdin and Trent Raschke both produced two-hit games from the eighth and ninth spots, with Rachske driving in a run and Durdin scoring one.

Texas-Dallas scored first, relying on the legs of Jacob Perry, who opened the inning with a single and stole two bases, putting himself in scoring position to score on an A.J. Liu groundout to third.

Ted Lobkowicz provided the Pirates' response, scoring Preston Witt on a sacrifice fly to left field in the top of the second. Liu put the Comets back on top with a two-out single through the left side, scoring Ramon Garza, who reached on a walk and advanced to scoring position on a failed pickoff attempt.

Both teams exchanged a two-run fifth inning. Southwestern got back-to-back RBI-singles from Craig and Mims, and Texas-Dallas scored on a fielder's choice and a fielding error to take a 4-3 lead.

Raschke tied the game up in the top of the sixth on an RBI-single up the middle to score Tanner, who reached on an error. Tanner gave the Pirates the lead in the seventh, scoring Mims on an RBI-single through the left side. Craig added an insurance run in the eighth, scoring Daniel Montgomery Jr. with a single up the middle.

That was enough for Trey Schwarz, who pitched a solid 4.1 innings in relief, holding the Comets scoreless while allowing only three hits and one walk with two strikeouts to pick up his first win of the season.

It was the third multi-hit game for Mims, who's off to a strong start to his collegiate career, leading the Pirates in hits (10), RBIs (six), and is tied for the lead in runs scored (eight). His .385 batting average leads the team amongst players with more than one start. His five stolen bases are tied for the conference lead.

With two consecutive wins, Southwestern will hit the road for a three-game series with the McMurry War Hawks this weekend, playing Friday at 6:00 p.m., and a doubleheader on Saturday, starting at 1:00 p.m.
