Trinity came out of the gate on a mission, getting the first batter on with a walk to kick off a game opening rally that resulted in two runs, one scored on a wild pitch and the other brought home on a hit batter.

The Tigers kept rolling in the second thanks to a two-out double by Hall that brought home Moore and Francke who both singled earlier in the inning.

Trinity remained in control on both sides of the ball as the offense put up one run in the each of the fourth, sixth and seventh innings while Speer headed an outstanding defensive effort on the mound. Speer went eight innings, scattering six hits with one earned run while striking out five and walking three.

Centenary had a final push scoring one in the sixth and two in the ninth, but the rally fell short as they dropped the 9-3 contest.

Francke led at the plate with a 3-4 outing with 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored. Centenary’s Clakley had a strong final game of his career, going 2-5 with 2 RBIs.

The Tigers advance to the NCAA National Tournament and with wait to learn who their opponent will be and in which Regional they will compete.
