GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern Women's Tennis took on the University of Dallas Crusaders and the UTD Comets on the campus of The University of Texas - Dallas in what would be a double-header for the Pirates on Saturday. Southwestern battled the University of Texas-Dallas for the first match of the day and defeated the ITA Ranked #35 Comets, 5-4, coming back from a 2-1 doubles deficit. In the second match, the Pirates handled the Crusaders easily by a 9-0 margin.
HIGHLIGHTS
- The doubles team of Daryl Locke and Hattie Berend won the only doubles match in the contest against the Comets
- Sydney Wahl defeated her UTD opponent after dropping the second set in her match 1-6, she went on to win the final set 6-2.
- Lydia Lee and Mary Young each won their singles match 6-4, 6-3 and 6-3, 7-5 respectively.
- Southwestern lost one set the entire afternoon against the Crusaders, otherwise, each doubles team and singles match was a clean sweep.
- The doubles teams of Erika Synoski and Mary Young, Sydney Wahl and Valeria Gracia, and Kimberly Duncan and Hattie Berend all swept their opponents, 8-0.
- Mary Young, competing at the number one singles spot, took victory in her match 6-1, 6-0
NOTES
- Erika Synoski won her singles match against the Comets after going into a tie-breaker, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3.
- Lydia Lee, Daryl Locke, Erika Synoski and Valeria Gracia each won their Crusader singles matchups 6-0.
- Kimberly Duncan won her singles match by forfeit against the University of Dallas.
