Women's Tennis Flawless Against Sul Ross State

GEORGETOWN, Texas — The No. 16-ranked Southwestern women's tennis team posted a flawless victory on Friday, defeating the Sul Ross State Lobos 9-0 without allowing a single point in the contest. 

"Assistant coach Tosha Smith stepped up again and led the team to a decisive victory," Southwestern head tennis coach Billy Porter says. 

With top doubles team Nina Mitrofanova and Lydia Lee away with Porter competing in The Ojai, Southwestern mixed up its lineup. 

Lauren Chisholm and Taylor Despriet defeated Delaney Yanez and Veronica Castaneda in No. 1 doubles, Alli Ziehm and Meeshti Shethia bested Marley Rokas and Courtney Cavallin at No. 2, and Chandler Vrba and Sydney Wahl won against Shanyce Ramos and Isabel Sandberg at No. 3. 

Despriet defeated Ramos at No. 1 singles, Kesterson was victorious against Yanez at No. 2, and Wahl bested Castaneda at No. 3. In the bottom half of the lineup, Chisholm beat Rokas, Vrba defeated Cavallin, and Shethia won against Sandberg. 

Southwestern wraps up its regular season with a 13-4 record. The Pirates will defend their conference title at the SCAC Championships next weekend, starting Friday, April 29 in Kerrville, Texas.
