
The Intercollegiate Tennis Association released its latest regional rankings, listing the Southwestern women's team as the third-ranked team in the West Region, with three ranked singles players and two ranked doubles teams.
Southwestern is ranked No. 14 in the nation with a 7-3 record. The Pirates boast wins over nationally-ranked Denison, Kenyon, and Skidmore. Its three losses are to NCAA Division II Texas-Tyler, No. 13-ranked Mary Washington, and top-ranked Chicago.
Nina Mitrofanova leads Southwestern's individual rankings as the No. 10-ranked player in the region. Mitrofanova 5-5 at No. 1 singles with wins over nationally-ranked Denison's Sarah Robertson and Skidmore's Katherine Almquist.
Taylor Despriet is ranked No. 17 with a 7-3 record, including 6-3 at No. 2 singles. Despriet boasts wins over nationally-ranked Denison's Monique Brual and Kenyon's Eleni Dakos.
Emma Kesterson is ranked No. 21 with a 4-3 record, including 4-2 at No. 3 singles. Kesterson's wins include matches over nationally-ranked Denison's Hannah Bradvica, Kenyon's Lalasa Nagireddy, and Skidmore's Konika Dhull.
Mitrofanova and Lydia Lee are ranked sixth in doubles with a 5-5 record, including 4-5 at No. 1 doubles, including a victory over NCAA Division II Texas-Tyler and nationally-ranked Skidmore.
Reigning ITA Regional champions Alli Ziehm and Kesterson are No. 11 with a 4-3 record, including 4-2 at No. 2 doubles. The duo has won against nationally-ranked Denison, Kenyon, and Mary Washington.
This is the first time in program history the Pirates have five athletes regionally ranked at the same time.
Southwestern has a 7-3 record. The Pirates will travel to play Mary Hardin-Baylor on Thursday at 5:00 p.m., followed by road matches against Texas Lutheran and St. Thomas on April 8 and 9.
