Women's Tennis Sweeps Ozarks

GEORGETOWN, Texas — Southwestern women's tennis handily defeated the Ozarks Eagles 9-0, earning six points in complete shutout victories. 

Nina Mitrofanova and Taylor Despriet defeated Angelica Garcia and Kaitlin Gutierrez 8-0 in no. 1 doubles. Alli Ziehm and Mariana Quetzeri followed suit with an 8-0 victory over Anna Ryan and Alexis Rogers in No. 2 doubles. Isabela Candelario and Sara Le rounded out the doubles sweep with an 8-1 victory over Skylar Frazier and Lea Terrell. 

"Sara and Isabel were fantastic tonight at No. 3 doubles and gave us a spark going into singles," head coach Billy Porter said. 

Sydney Wahl, Alli Ziehm, Chandler Vrba, and Isabel Candelario all won 6-0, 6-0 in their respective singles matches. Mitrofanova and Bowers won their matches 6-0, 6-1 in No. 1 and 2 singles. 

"Sydney continues to play well and didn't lose a point the entire second set to get a Golden Set," Porter said. "Chandler was back in the lineup tonight and did a great job of playing sound, consistent tennis." 

Southwestern improves to 7-3 with the win. The Pirates will travel this weekend to face Austin College and Tyler Junior College on Saturday, March 27.
