Pirates Lose 7-2 To Tarleton State

GEORGETOWN, Texas — Southwestern women's tennis won two matches against NCAA Division I Tarleton State University, losing the overall match 7-2 at home.

The Pirates were swept in doubles. Allie Ziehm and Mariana Quetzeri, and Esther Bowers, and Nina Elez each lost 8-2, while Emma Kesterson and Nina Mitrofanova lost 8-1 in No. 1 doubles.

"We did not play to our level in doubles, and it showed in the scores," head coach Billy Porter said.

Nina Mitrofanova dropped two difficult sets at No. 2 singles, but the Pirates pulled out a pair of three-set wins. Nina Elez lost her first set 6-1 against Faustine Palatte but recovered for a 6-4 and 6-10 win to take the match. Allie Ziehm defeated Hadley Jones (1-6, 6-3, 6-4) in No. 6 singles.

"Nina Mitrofanova played her best match of the year, and while she didn't get a win out of it, she showed us a lot," Porter said. "Alli pulled out a great third set win and has so much to be proud of with her performance on the singles court today."
