Esther Bowers and Nina Mitrofanova Named SCAC Women's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week

Southwestern University Pirates junior Esther Bowers and first year Nina Mitrofanova were named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Women's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week for their performances in matches played from Sunday, Feb. 10 through Sunday, Feb. 16.

The duo defeated Isabella Wiik and Cassandra Landeros-Cabrera 8-1 in the No. 1 spot against Concordia (Texas).

The Pirates are 3-0 this season, winning one at home and two on the road with three consecutive 9-0 victories. Bowers and Mitrofanova are 3-0 this season.

Southwestern will travel to California this weekend for a pair of matches against nationally ranked teams. The Pirates will face the No. 2-ranked team in the nation, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 4:00 p.m. The No. 22-ranked Pirates will then face No. 21 California Institute of Technology on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 12:00 p.m.
