Meeshti Shethia Named SCAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week

Southwestern University Pirates sophomore Meeshti Shethia was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Women's Tennis Player of the Week for her performances in matches played from Sunday, Feb. 10 through Sunday, Feb. 16.

Shethia defeated Concordia (Texas) first year Rachel Sweitzer, winning a hard-fought second set, 6-3, after taking the first set 6-0 in the No. 5 spot.

The Pirates are 3-0 this season, winning one at home and two on the road with three consecutive 9-0 victories. Shethia is 2-0 this season, claiming another victory in the No. 4 spot against the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Southwestern will travel to California this weekend for a pair of matches against nationally ranked teams.

Southwestern will face the No. 2-ranked team in the nation, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 4:00 p.m. The No. 22-ranked Pirates will then face No. 21 California Institute of Technology on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 12:00 p.m.
