Women's Tennis Complete Exhibition Against ASU

GEORGETOWN, Texas -- Women's Tennis played exhibition matches against Angelo State University and former Southwestern tennis alum.

Mary Cardone and Emma Kesterson won 8-0 in doubles against ASU's Zoe Gubbels and Maria Delgadillo. Head Coach Billy Porter praised the "incredible doubles from Mary and Emma today as they were dominant in every way possible."

In singles, Esther Bowers bested Dianela Rodriguez 6-2,6-4 playing at the No. 2 spot.

"Esther had a great win in singles playing very good tennis all around," said Porter. Nina Elez also won in a hard-fought match (7-6, 6-2) over former Southwestern alum Anna Schneemann. Porter said Elez had the "toughest task today playing one of our own alums and found a way to pull out a huge win."

Schneemann, a three-year graduate and Southwestern women's tennis alum came back to her former stomping grounds to in ASU attire where she is currently playing her last year of collegiate eligibility as a grad student.

Schneemann, who was a three-year captain for the Southwestern women's team tennis team and an Ojia doubles champion, graduated from Southwestern University in three years with a psychology major went on to Angelo State University (ASU) for her masters.

Up next, women's tennis will take on Concordia Texas University at home in Georgetown on Thursday, Feb. 13 at 5 p.m.
