Pirates speed past Centenary to reach SCAC Championship semifinals

KERRVILLE, Texas – For the 15th consecutive match, Southwestern came out on the right side against an opponent. The Pirates needed only 35 minutes to defeat seventh-seeded Centenary, 5-0, in the opening round of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Friday afternoon at the H-E-B Tennis Courts.

Southwestern (20-4), which is the No. 2 seed in the tournament, picked up all three doubles points to grab a quick lead.

Following a defaulted win at No. 6 singles, Emilie Moeller tallied a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the fifth position to clinch the contest.

The Pirates will match up with either No. 3-seeded Colorado College or sixth-seeded Austin College in Saturday's semifinal round. The match is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
