Southwestern rallies past Colorado College to keep win streak alive

GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Southwestern University women's tennis team rallied from a 2-1 deficit to topple Colorado College, 6-3, on Thursday night and extend its winning streak to 11 matches.

The Pirates (16-4) fell behind early and dropped two of three doubles tilts.

However, Southwestern collected five of six singles matchups to move past the Tigers.

Jessey Martinez tied up the match at 2-2 with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 4 singles. Taite Drews-Jones picked up a 6-4, 7-5 win at the top spot to put SU up by one.

Colorado College (10-8) pulled even with a win at the third position.

The Pirates then closed out the contest with wins at the Nos. 2, 5 and 6 spots. Nicole Wilson provided the clincher with a 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 triumph over Simone Hall at the fifth position.

Southwestern will head to Shreveport, La., this weekend for a trio of matches.
