Southwestern powers past Concordia Texas on Wednesday, 9-0

GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Southwestern University women's tennis team pushed its win streak to five matches, as the Pirates rolled to a 9-0 victory over Concordia Texas on Wednesday evening at the Marvin D. Henderson Tennis Courts.

Southwestern (10-4) gave up only five games in doubles play to take an early 3-0 lead. The Pirates then won all six doubles tilts in straight sets.

Reigning Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week Taite Drews-Jones continued her strong play with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 1 singles. Drews-Jones also teamed up with Jessey Martinez for an 8-2 win at the second doubles spot.

Anna Schneemann logged a 6-1, 6-1 win at the second singles position, while Julie Swets was on the right side of a 6-2, 6-4 decision at the third spot.

Nicole Wilson topped Alexis Popovic at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-3. Emilie Moeller added a 6-0, 6-3 win at the fifth position, while Maranda Kahl rounded out singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 triumph in the final slot.

Southwestern will return to the road to face Howard Payne on Tuesday, March 29. The match is slated to begin at 3:30 p.m. in Brownwood.
