LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Southwestern University first-year Taite Drews-Jones was named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday afternoon. It marked the second time this season that Drews-Jones claimed the league's weekly honor.
Drews-Jones, who also earned the award on Feb. 23, posted a 5-0 mark while leading the Pirates to three consecutive wins during their Oregon road trip last week.
The Minneapolis native teamed up with classmate Jessey Martinez to log a 3-0 mark at No. 2 doubles. She also netted a 2-0 record at the top singles spot.
Drews-Jones holds a 7-2 record in singles play and a 9-2 ledger in doubles action, all with Martinez as her partner.
Southwestern returns to action on Wednesday, as the Pirates host Concordia Texas at 5 p.m.
