Women's Golf Takes Fourth at Linda Lowery Invitational

The Southwestern Women's Golf Team played in Round Rock, Texas this week at the Linda Lowery Invitational hosted at Teravista Golf Club. The Pirates traveled with two teams to the Linda Lowery with the first team finishing in fourth place and the second team in eighth place. 

The first day of the Linda Lowery Invitational presented challenging pin placements and firm fairways that the Pirates had to learn to quickly adapt to. The Pirates finished day one with a team score of 330 securing a spot in fifth place heading into day two. The low round for the Pirates on Monday was a six-over 78 for Ryleigh Erickson

On the second day of the tournament, the Pirates were able to fight through strong winds, cold temperatures, and tough course conditions to improve their spot on the leaderboard to fourth place. As a team, the Pirates improved by eight strokes on the second day shooting a 322. Ryleigh Erickson finished in ninth place overall (158) and Isabel Montelongo shot the low round for the Pirates during the second round with a four-over 76 leading her to a tie for 12th overall individually (163). Linsey Garza (163 - tied for 12th), Mikayla Childers (170 - tied for 23rd), and Madison Miller (174 - tied for 30th) completed the first team for the Pirates. 

The second team for the Pirates shot a two-day total of 715 leading them to an eighth-place finish. 

The Southwestern University Women's Golf Team will compete again on April 3rd - 4th in Georgetown, TX at the West Region Invitational.
