Women's Golf Finishes Fourth At Schreiner Spring Shootout

KERRVILLE, Texas — The Southwestern University Pirates women's golf team made a big run in the second round of the Schreiner Spring Shootout, leapfrogging two teams to finish fourth with a score of 670. 

Southwestern improved on its first-round performance by 14 strokes, scoring a 328 on the second day of action. 

Madison Goldberg led the Pirates with a fifth-place finish, scoring rounds of 79 and 81 to finish tied at 160 with Trinity University's Kiona Hsia at 16 over par. Ryleigh Erickson scored an 81 in the second round, improving on her first-round performance by six strokes to finish in 15th with a score of 168 in her first collegiate event. 

Sarah Lucido was the final Southwestern golfer in the top 20, finishing tied for 19th with a score of 171. Katherine Montgomery and Linsey Garze each scored a 177, tied for 28th. 

The University of Texas at Dallas won the event with a score of 656, besting Trinity by two strokes, and paced by the event's individual winner, Karen Alvarez. 

Southwestern's next event is the SCAC Preview held at Vaaler Creek Golf Club in Blanco, Texas, from Monday, March 22 through Tuesday, March 23.
