Women's Golf Finished First Day of SCAC Preview In Second

BLANCO, Texas— The Southwestern University women's golf team finished one stroke off the lead in the first round of the SCAC Preview at the Vaaler Creek Golf Club, scoring a 327 to finish the day behind Trinity University. 

Madison Goldberg paced the Pirates with a 78, tying Trinity's Raquel Hill for a tie in first place atop the individual leaderboard. 

Linsey Garza scored an 81 to finish with Trinity's Sarah Buss in a tie for sixth and Emily Campbell followed with an 82 to round out the Pirates in the top 10 at eighth. 

Madison Miller and Sarah Lucido finished just outside the top 10, scoring an 86 to tie for 13th on the individual leaderboard. Katherine Montgomery, participating as an individual, shot an 88 to finish in a tie for 18th. 

Campbell led the field in made pars at 10 and Goldberg was the only participant to score an Eagle. Southwestern will conclude the SCAC Preview with another round tomorrow.
