Women's golf finishes tied for 14th against top national talent

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. - Highlighted by Bernice Leonard's finish, the Pirates closed the three day Jekyll Island Invitational tied for 14th place against the top teams in the nation. 

Leonard ended the event tied for 14th with a three day score of 230. She was steady all week, going 77, 76, 77 for the tournament. Sewanee's Emily Javadi won the individual title with a 215 to lead Sewanee to the team title with a 902 combined score.

Valentina Olivieri bettered her score every round to send tied for 70th with 253 strokes (87-84-82). Keeley Coburn and Katherine Dyo tied for 74th with 256 strokes. Coburn posted an 84-89-83 and Dyo went 85-82-89. 

Mikayla Miller closed out the Pirate effort with a 270 (93-91-86) to end tied for 95th. 

Southwestern has one more tune-up before the SCAC Championship as they compete in the National Spring Preview hosted by Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas on April 4th and 5th.
