Men's and Women's Lacrosse Combine for Five Academic All-District Awards

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University Men's and Women's lacrosse teams gathered five College Sports Communicators Academic All-District At-Large Awards this week. Academic and athletic criteria exist for different sports that are grouped in the At-Large Programs for the NCAA/NAIA. Those receiving Academic All-District awards were senior women's lacrosse players Raquel Kurth and Hallie Mayfield. On the men's side, sophomore Matthew Houtz and juniors Travis Moore and Logan LeBlanc were recipients of the award. Southwestern Athletics holds four At-Large programs, including men's and women's golf and men's and women's lacrosse.

"The 2024 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's At-Large teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes at-large honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA."

To qualify for CSC Academic All-District, an athlete must have these qualifications:

Academic standing:

  • Student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
  • Institutions may only nominate six male athletes and six female athletes for CSC Academic All-District At-Large Awards.

Academic eligibility:

  • An undergraduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale).
  • The cumulative grade point average may not be rounded up to 3.50.

Athletic eligibility

  • Lacrosse (Men's and Women's): Nominee must have competed in 90% of the TEAM's total games played OR have started 66% of the TEAM's total games.
