Today is our Pirates for Pirates Challenge, a day to rally around your favorite athletic team(s) and programs! For 24 hours, beginning at noon CDT September 13 - noon CDT September 14, anyone can make a gift of any size to help us reach our goal of 600 donors for our Pirate scholar-athletes. You can support the Pirate Fund for Athletics or give directly to your favorite team(s). The Southwestern University Athletics Department competes in 20 sports in NCAA Division III (DIII) and is a member of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. Southwestern Football will begin as an affiliate member for the Southern Athletic Association in Fall 2023. The Pirates have won championships in football, baseball, softball, volleyball, women's basketball, men's and women's golf, men's swimming and diving, and women's tennis. The Athletics Department places the highest priority on the academic success and overall quality of the educational experience of each student-athlete. The department promotes sportsmanship by stressing civility, fairness, honesty, and respect toward teammates, officials, and opponents. Further, the Athletic Department emphasizes the health and welfare of its student-athletes seeking to establish and maintain an environment that values cultural diversity and gender equity among their student-athletes and athletics staff.
