The Pirates competed in the first full day of events at the SCAC Swim and Dive Conference Championships in Garland, Texas. Preliminary races took place at 10:30am with athletes fighting for the chance to advance to the finals at 6:00pm at the state of the art Garland ISD Natatorium.
The Women started the day off strong by narrowly outkicking Colorado College for a 2nd Place finish in the 200 yard freestyle relay. Participants in this relay were Emma Williams, Zoe Garcia, Delaney Anthony, and anchor Emma Frey with a total time of 1:35.67. Sam Anderson, Henry McClure, Carter Duncan, and Sebastian Ortiz put together a fantastic 200 yard relay as well, earning them 3rd Place with a time of 1:24.56.
Sophomore Zach Kangieser placed 3rd overall in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 4:40.77.
Emma Williams and Emma Frey both earned spots back on the podium in the 50 yard freestyle. Frey placed 3rd in a time of 23.99 and Emma Williams narrowly placed 2nd with a time of 23.97. In an event where Trinity had the five top times, Senior Henry McClure fought his way to 2nd for the 50 yard freestyle. He tied another athlete with a time of 20.62 and was able to take home the silver medal.
The Pirates are halfway through this four day championship event. Competition continues on Friday with preliminaries beginning at 10:30 a.m., women's and men's finals at 6 p.m.
