Pirates Top The Tigers On Senior Day With 8-1 Win

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Pirates hosted the Colorado College Tigers for their final conference matchup of the season. The The women's tennis team honored its lone senior, Sydney Wahl, before the contest and played one of its most complete matches of the season to take an 8-1 win.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Wahl took an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles with Valeria Gracia and then dominated her match at 4 singles, winning 6-2, 6-1.
  • Erika Synoski also won 2, 6-1 at No. 3 and Kimberly Duncan controlled her match at 6 singles (6-2, 6-0).
  • Gracia (2-6, 6-4, 10-3 at No. 5) and Daryl Locke (5-7, 6-2, 10-8 at No. 2) both battled to comeback wins in singles and Mary Young nearly did as well at No. 1, falling 1-6, 6-2. 7-10.
  • The Pirates showed the resilience they'll need in the postseason, as well as the aggressive doubles play, with Young and Synoski (8-4 at No. 1) and Locke and Duncan (8-6 at No. 2) joining Gracia and Wahl in picking up wins.
