9-0 Sweep For Women's Tennis Over Concordia

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern women's tennis team took on Concordia in a local rivalry match to prepare for the resumption of league play this week, and gave a dominant performance in a 9-0 win at Henderson Courts.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Pirates had a strong effort in doubles to set the tone, with Daryl Locke and Erika Synoski earning an 8-2 win at No. 1, consistently moving forward and showing strong net play to build a big lead, before Synoski finished it off with a pretty backhand passing shot.
  • Sydney Wahl and Kimberly Duncan had an 8-5 win at No. 3 and Valeria Gracia and Lydia Lee completed the sweep with an 8-5 win at No. 2, as Gracia painted the line with a forehand winner on match point.
  • The Pirates then controlled singles with six straight-set wins, as Locke (6-4, 6-1 at No. 1), Synoski (6-0, 6-4 at No. 2), Lee (6-0, 6-0 at No. 3), Wahl (6-1, 6-2 at No. 4), Gracia (6-1, 6-0 at No. 5) and Duncan (6-2, 6-3) all looked sharp.
