Women's Tennis falls to Trinity Tigers

Women's Tennis falls to Trinity Tigers

Southwestern Women's Tennis was defeated by the Trinity Tigers on April 21, 2023, at their home courts. Although the Pirates fell, the women's team fought to the very end.

Doubles put the pirates down 1-2, but they were ready to battle. Seniors Alli Ziehm and Nina Mitrofanova played an outstanding match together winning, 8-6, at line one doubles. The communication and determination presented during the match by these two Seniors was evident and next to none.

The Pirates entered singles with their heads still high and ready to fight for every match. With a crowd cheering and everyone encouraging each other, the Pirates had some more positive energy moving!

Nina Mitrofanova battled at line one singles giving her opponent a run for her money. Mitrofanova kept her cool and was able to play some fabulous tennis. However, she didn't quite grasp the win. Sydney Wahl competed at line three singles, playing a solid, competitive match. Her opponent had some great, solid shots, but Wahl was unbothered. While Wahl did not quite get the win, she competed at an extremely high level and played well! At line five and six, Sophomore Lauren Chisholm battled hard but fell just a bit short of winning, meanwhile Senior Alli Ziehm played some excellent tennis. Ziehm gained the second and last point for the Pirates.

While the Pirates did not win, they plan to battle even harder next weekend at Conference. Be sure to mark your calendars for the Conference Tournament which will be held at your very own Southwestern University on April 28-30, at the Pirates' home courts! This is only one week from today!
