Women's Tennis Defeats the Centre College

Southwestern Women's Tennis defeated Schreiner in an away match on Wednesday, March 22, 2023. The Pirates swept all courts, winning the match 8-1.

The Pirates were up 3-0 after doubles giving them an early lead. The energy was good from the start, leading to the three wins. Nina Mitrofanova and Lydia Lee's chemistry on court was clear. Erika Synoski and Emma Kesterson played and won smoothly at line three. These two have been putting in the work and are getting the results they deserve. Taylor Despriet and Alli Ziehm had great success and energy in their line two doubles.

All of the first four matches on court had high energy. There was a clear determination to waste no time to get the wins the Pirates needed. Nina Mitrofanova, Sydney Wahl, Lydia Lee, and Lauren Chisholm all went out on court and got ahead quickly. Chisholm was the first match finished and she radiated energy as she cheered on the other courts, followed by Nina who won 6-1, 7-6 in a battle. Lee and Wahl played extremely well. Alli Ziehm and Daryl Locke played lines five and six. Ziehm had a solid win, 6-3, 6-1. Unfortunately, Locke injured her ankle and had to retire from her match.

Once again, the Southwestern Women's Tennis team had an outstanding performance and was able to get the victory, 8-1.

Be sure to mark your calendars for the Conference Tournament which will be held here at Southwestern University on April 28-30, at the Pirates' home courts!
