Southwestern Women's Tennis defeated Schreiner in an away match on Friday, March 3, 2023. The Pirates swept all courts, winning the match 9-0.

The Pirates were up 3-0 after doubles giving them an important lead. The energy was a bit low starting out the matches but the team picked it up quickly to achieve the three wins. Nina Mitrofanova and Emma Kesterson's chemistry on court continues to grow as the two become a strong team for the Pirates. Excited by the way they have performed in matches together, Coach Porter stated, "Nina and Emma continue to play very strong for us at the top spot and are becoming quite the dynamic duo." Erika Synoski and Daryl Locke played and won a tough battle at line three. These two have been putting in the work and are getting the results they deserve. "Daryl and Erika continue to get meaningful repetitions together and are gaining much needed experience for our doubles depth" said Coach Porter.

All of the first four matches on court had high energy. There was a clear determination to waste no time to get the wins the Pirates needed. Nina Mitrofanova (1), Sydney Wahl (2), Lydia Lee (3), and Lauren Chisholm (4) all went out on court and got ahead quickly. Wahl was the first match done and she radiated energy as she cheered on the other courts, followed by Lee who won her match with ease. Even while feeling slightly under the weather, Mitrofanova went out and got the job done.

Erika Synoski (5) and Valeria Gracia (6) played with the same high energy that was cultivated from Wahl and Lee's wins. Synoski played a solid match gaining yet another point for the Pirates! Gracia had a great match. She controlled the points and got the win. Coach Porter praised Gracia, "Val played really solid today securing the shutout with a win at number six." She gained the last point for the Pirates, making the final score 9-0.

Once again, the Southwestern Women's Tennis team had an outstanding performance and was able to get the victory.

Be sure to mark your calendars for the Conference Tournament which will be held here at Southwestern University on April 28-30, at the Pirates' home courts!
