Mitrofanova and Lee To Compete At The Ojai

The prestigious Ojai Tennis Tournament draws were released this week, seeding Southwestern women's tennis player Nina Mitrofanova as the top overall player with a first-round bye in a draw of 32.

This year marks The Ojai 120th Annual Tennis Tournament and will take place from Thursday, April 21 through April 24. Mitrofanova will face the winner of the match between Cal Lutheran University's Mina Ahmadi and Whittier College's Avery Turner on Thursday at 1:00 p.m.

First-year Lydia Lee will also compete and is placed on the other side of the bracket, facing Cal Lutheran University's Joslin Seaberg at 11:30 a.m.

Mitrofanova and Lee are seeded second as a doubles pairing and earn a first-round bye in the doubles tournament. The pair will compete on Friday at 2:00 p.m. against the winner of the match between Chapman's Aliya Allyn and Olivia Desso against Cal Lutheran University's Heidi Levanen and Seaberg. 

The singles events will be a 32 draw, while the doubles events will be a 16 draw.

There is a 1st round loser consolation event for both singles and doubles, which will begin Friday afternoon for the men and women.

Women play at Pierpont Racquet Club starting Thursday, April 21, and Men play at Pierpont Raquet Club starting on Friday. No outside food is allowed on the grounds of the club.

Friday matches for the women will be at Ventura College, and Saturday matches will be at Ojai Valley Athletic Club / Weil Tennis Academy.

The main draw matches in singles will be two sets and a match tie-break instead of a third set, with regular scoring. The singles final will be the best of three sets.  All main draw doubles matches (except for the finals) will be an 8-game pro-set, tie-break at seven games all, regular scoring.  The doubles final will play the best of three tie-break sets.  Singles consolation matches will be two no-ad sets, with a match tie-break instead of the third, while doubles will be no-ad 8-game pro-sets, tie-break at 7-all.
