Women's Tennis Sweeps First SCAC Weekly Awards of the Season

Southwestern women's tennis swept Week 1 of the SCAC Singles Player and Doubles Team of the Week awards for their performances against NCAA Division II UT-Tyler and NCAA Division I UT-Rio Grande Valley. 

Two-time All-American Nina Mitrofanova earned the Singles Player of the Week award after dominating her match against UT-Rio Grande Valley's Isabelle Bahr, winning 6-2, 6-2 in No. 1 singles. Mitrofanova went 1-1 on the week, with a loss to UT-Tyler's Delara Zamani. 

Mitrofanova also joined freshman Lydia Lee to win the SCAC Doubles Team of the Week. The pair went undefeated against two scholarship programs this weekend, defeating NCAA Division II UT-Tyler's Brooklyn Ross and Kanika Sivaraman, 8-7, in line 2 doubles, followed by an 8-4 win over NCAA Division I UT-Rio Grande Valley's Isabelle Bahr and Lea Karren, 8-4.

Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:

Junior Blair Drought-Villarreal of Schreiner posted a 1-1 week, which included a victory over Tabor College's Tara Stewart, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5 singles.

Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:

Junior Anamaria Gonzalez and junior Alejandra Lopez of St. Thomas went 1-1 on the week, which included dismantling the McMurry (Texas) squad at line one as the duo claimed the 8-2 victory. Junior Blair Drought-Villarreal and sophomore Rachel Rompel of Schreiner earned an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles over the team from Tabor College in their only matching of the weekend.
