Kesterson and Cardone Named SCAC Doubles Team of the Week

GEORGETOWN, Texas -- Southwestern University women's tennis made the first week's doubles team of the week awarded by the Southern Athletic Collegiate Conference (SCAC), with Emma Kesterson and Mary Cardone coming out top after playing matches from Saturday, January 25 to Sunday, February 02.

In their first official match paired together, Cardone and Kesterson won a hard-fought battle in the No.1 doubles spot, defeating Alejandra Lopez and Ana Maria Gonzalez 8-7, claiming the tiebreaker 7-5. In singles, Cardone also defeated Lopez (6-3, 6-0) and Kesterson gave up a single point to Davila in the No. 3 spot, winning 6-1, 6-0.

Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC: Mary Eby and Madison Starr of Texas Lutheran played No. 2 doubles producing a 2-1 record. They defeated teams from Louisiana College and LeTourneau by scores of 8-0 and 8-2.
