LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Southwestern University sophomore Taite Drews-Jones was named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday afternoon. It marked the second time she received the honor this spring.
Drews-Jones, who also earned the league's weekly award on Feb. 21, helped Southwestern to a 9-0 victory over Howard Payne last week.
In the victory, she teamed up with Mary Cardone for an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles. The Minneapolis native then registered a 6-0, 6-3 triumph at the top singles position.
Drews-Jones and the rest of the Pirates (4-1) will host Concordia Texas on Wednesday. First serve is slated for 5 p.m.
