GEORGETOWN, Texas – Sophomore Maranda Kahal is the lone Southwestern women's tennis singles player still alive in the ITA Southwest Regional, which is taking place at the Marvin D. Henderson Sr. Tennis Courts.

The Sherman native ousted McMurry's Zayra Gomez in the B Draw Round of 16, 6-3, 6-4. She then upended Savannah Steely of Texas-Tyler, 7-6 (6), 3-6, 1-0 (10-8).

Kahl, and doubles partner Nicole Wilson, are competing for the B Draw doubles championship following an 8-0 rout of Concordia Texas' Carreon and DallOrso, and rolling to an 8-1 win over UT-Tyler's Seely and Warren.

The final matches will begin at 9 a.m. Sunday.
