Women's Golf Places Eighth at Jekyll Island Collegiate

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern Women's Golf took to the Indian Mound Course in Jekyll Island, Georgia to compete in the Jekyll Island Collegiate this past weekend. The Pirate finished eighth in the field of eighteen teams, consisting of six teams that were ranked or received votes in the Top 25 WGCA Coaches poll for March 15th. Southwestern shot a three-round score of 965 and placed two players in the top fifteen. 

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Ryleigh Erickson concluded her tournament in solo sixth place, firing scores of 77 or better in each of her three rounds (76, 76, 77) for a final tally of 229.  
  • Sydney Jackson placed in a tie for fourteenth, never carding a round above 80. Her combined three-round score was 234, and had a team-best round of 75 in round two. 
  • Sloane Panter ended in solo thirty-fifth place. Her best score came in round two, where she had three birdies and was +7 for the day (79). 

NOTES

  • Southwestern was top three in the field in scoring on par threes, averaging 3.39 for the tournament on those holes. 
  • Erickson was eighth in the field in scoring on par fours, averaging 4.23 shots over the course of three rounds. 
  • The Pirates outplayed every team in the field that was not ranked in the Top 25 or received votes.
