Isabel Montelongo, a senior on the women's golf team from College Station, Texas, has been selected as the SCAC Character & Community Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the week beginning November 27.

The SCAC Character & Community Award honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.

Isabel has been a prominent golfer in her time at Southwestern University. A WGCA Academic All-American and former First Team All-SCAC selection, she spends her time outside of competition doing all she can to help the athletic department at Southwestern, and in addition, junior golf tournaments across the state.

Throughout her time at Southwestern, Isabel has worked in the athletic facilities and equipment management team, taking care of athletes' equipment needs as well as assisting in all aspects of game and recreational operations inside the Robertson Center. Recently, Isabel has been working at her final internship with the Sports Information and Athletic Communications office for the Pirates. She has undertaken all of the aspects that the athletic communications world has to offer, including creating graphics, managing southwesternpirates.com, and organizing years of historical archives. Throughout her summers in college, she has given back to the golf community by organizing and assisting with tournament operations for the Southern Texas PGA, an organization that impacted her as a young golfer.

When she graduates in December, Isabel will go on to use the skills learned throughout her college career to start a career as a Marketing Coordinator in Dallas, Texas.
