Women's Golf Takes Tenth at Montgomery Intercollegiate

This week the Southwestern women's golf team traveled to Mongtomery, Alabama to play at the Montgomery Intercollegiate hosted by Huntingdon College. The competitive field of 15 teams traveled from across the country to compete at the 5640 yard - Montgomery Country Club. 

On Sunday, the pirates began the tournament strong, with a team score of 314. The team was led by Ryleigh Erickson shooting a 3-under 69 with an impressive seven birdies on her card for the day. Rachel Harris (76), Sloane Panter (83), Sydney Jackson (86) and Hailey Vardeman (86) rounded out the day one team score leading into the final round on Monday. 

Monday, the Pirates improved by two strokes for their team total shooting at 312. Ryleigh Erickson kept the momentum going with a three-over 75 for the final round leading her to a sixth place finish in the 75 person field. Sloane Panter and Sydney Jackson both improved their scores from the previous day with Sloane carding a 78 and Sydney with a 76. The Pirates finished in tenth place at the Montgomery Intercollegiate. 

The Pirates will compete again on October 9-10 at the Alamo City Classic in San Antonio, TX.
