Six Women's Golfers Earn WGCA Scholar All-American Honors

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University Women's Golf team was well represented on the WGCA Scholar All-American list today, with sixty percent of the team making the list. The Pirates finished second in the SCAC Tournament this season and showed their success on the course and in the classroom with six women earning the title of Scholar All-American. The following are the players who achieved the criteria. 

Mikayla Childers - Junior
Isabella Valenzuela - Freshman
Katherine Montgomery - Senior
Isabel Montelongo - Senior
Linsey Garza - Senior
Madison Miller -Senior

The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics and continue to demonstrate the high-level academic achievements of players.

To be selected, a student-athlete must:

  • Have an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher.
  • Be an amateur and on the team's roster through the conclusion of the team's season.
  • Have played in 50% of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year nominated through the team's conference championship.
