Women's Golf Places Third at Lady Bulldog Classic

SEGUIN, Texas — Southwestern women's golf improved on its first-round performance at the Lady Bulldog Classic, finishing third behind Trinity University and East Texas Baptist University. 

Katherine Montgomery made the biggest move up the leaderboard, improving by four strokes with a second-round score of 75, finishing at 154 to crack the top 10 at eighth. Madison Goldberg finished one stroke off that mark, tying for ninth with a score of 155. 

Linsey Garza was steady, scoring an 82 after notching an 81 in the first round, moving up one spot and into a tie for 21st. Kaylee Cheek and Madison Miller each scored a 164 to tie for 25th.

Trinity University's Kiona Hsiu was the event's overall winner with a two-round score of 146, leading the Tigers to a first-place finish at 603. East Texas Baptist placed two in the top 10, paced by Hannah McKinney's second-place tie to give her team a second-place finish at 622. 

Mikayla Childers and Isabel Montelongo competed as individuals. Childers scored a 163 to finish tied for 21st. Montelongo scored 169 to finish 29th. 

Southwestern will travel to Houston, Texas, next week to compete in the NCAA Preview at the Bay Oaks Country Club on Monday, Sept. 27, and Tuesday, Sept. 28.
