Women's Golf In Third After Day 1 of Lady Bulldog Classic

SEGUIN, Texas — Southwestern women's golf ended the first day of the Lady Bulldog Classic in third place, scoring a 319 in the first round to finish 17 strokes off the lead. 

Three Southwestern golfers finished in the top 20, led by Madison Goldberg and Katherine Montgomery, who tied for 12th with a score of 79. Kaylee Cheek scored an 80 to finish tied for 18th. Linsey Garza scored an 81 to end the day in 22nd, and Madison Miller shot an 86 and is tied for 31st. 

Mikayla Childers, playing as an individual, tied Cheek with an 80 for 18th. Isabel Montelongo also competed, scoring an 86 to tie for 31sts. 

Trinity University currently stands in first place with a team score of 302, paced by overall leader Kiona Hsiu, who scored a 70. East Texas Baptist University sits in second, with Emily Watson and Hannah McKinney tied for third overall. 

Our Lady of the Lake (fourth), Hardin-Simmons (fifth), University of the Southwest (sixth), the University of Dallas (seventh), Schreiner (eighth), and Howard Payne (ninth) also competed in the event. The women will wrap up the Lady Bulldog Classic tomorrow.
