Women's Golf In Second After Day 1 of SCAC Preview

BLANCO, Texas — Southwestern women's golf finished the first round of the SCAC Preview just eight strokes out of first place, ending the day with three in the top 10 and sitting firmly in second with a score of 329. 

Madison Goldberg and Linsey Garza had strong performances on the first day. Each scored a 79 and sit in a two-way tie for second place, trailing Trinity's Caterina Mora Adrover by just one stroke. Goldberg showed tremendous consistency, make 10 pars, sitting one stroke off the lead in that statistical category. Garza leads the field with four birdies. 

Ryleigh Erickson shot an 83 to finish tied for eighth with St. Thomas' Trinity Le. Sarah Lucido ended the day just outside the top 10, scoring an 88 to finish tied for 13th. Madison Miller finished one stroke off that mark, scoring an 89, good for 15th. Mikayla Childers competed as an individual in the event and scored a 104, ending the day in 22nd.
