THE WOODLANDS, Texas - Southwestern women's golf came out on top after one of the closest races in SCAC Championship history, defeating Trinity University in a two-round playoff Tuesday. 

The win is Southwestern's seventh all-time and first since 2013. 

The Pirates held onto an eight stroke lead after the first round, led by Leilani McDaniel who finished in second place. 

As day two got underway the Tigers began to inch back before finally pulling even on the final hole of the championship, the par-5 #9. 

After two rounds the two teams were deadlocked resulting in a playoff which consisted of all five golfers replaying hole 18. One playoff round couldn't decide it but the second did as Emily Campbell battled back from injury for a huge par in the first group to set Southwestern up for the win. 

McDaniel continued her impressive play on day two and finished the tournament tied for the lead. She was defeated in the playoff by TLU's Summer Swift. McDaniel earned First Team All-SCAC honors, ending in second with 156 strokes, as did Paige Greenan who posted a 164 to come in fifth. 

Valentina Olivieri finished tied for 15th with teammate Mikayla Miller, each shooting a 174 for the championship. Campbell was forced to cut her rounds short, withdrawing due to injury.
