Women's golf tied for first after opening round

GEORGETOWN, Texas - Despite the challenging course conditions with wind and cooler temps the Southwestern women's golf team had a strong showing in their opening round at the West Region Invitational, finishing the day tied for first. 

Emily Campbell led the way with a seven-over-par 79, finishing tied for second overall. UT Tyler's Stephanie Tutt led all golfers with a 76. 

Valentina Olivieri was not far behind, posting an 80 to end the day tied for fifth. Paige Greenan rounded out the top-ten finishes for SU, coming in tied for ninth with an 82. 

Mikayla Miller (84) and Leilani McDaniel (87) rounded out the Pirate team score. Katherine Dyo and Julia Wofford competed as individuals at the tournament, finishing with an 88 and 89, respectively. 

Southwestern tees off at 8:30 am Tuesday to finish the tournament.
