Women's golf in fourth after day one at SCAC Championships

Through the first round of play the Southwestern women's golf team sits in fourth place of the SCAC Conference Championships at Vaaler Creek Golf Club. 

Southwestern shot a 373 as a team and trails Centenary by three strokes. Schreiner University leads the field with a 339. 

SU had a strong day as a team and was led by Bernice Leonard with an 868 and tied four seventh. Keeley Coburn and Lauren Boone were hot on her heels with an 87 to end tied for ninth. Jenny Smith ended the day in 21st with a 113. 

Schreiner's Kaycee Bankert is the leader after day one with a five-over-par 77.

Teams tee off on Tuesday morning beginning at 8 am to close the championship.
