LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Senior Ali Walden has been named SCAC Women's Golfer of the Week after a terrific performance this past weekend to lead Southwestern University at the 2014 West Region Invitational.
The Thompkinsville, Ky., native led the 17th-ranked Southwestern women's golf team to a third place finish at the loaded West Region Invitational in Georgetown. The eight team Invitational at Berry Creek Country Club saw Walden earn a runner-up finish among some of the top golfers in the region.
Walden's runner-up finish came after posting rounds of 77 and 81 as she battled high winds to card a score of 158 and finish one stroke off the lead behind only Victoria Thane of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
Walden and the Pirates take the week off before taking on Tapatio Springs Resort at the 2014 SCAC Women's Golf Championships in Boerne, Texas, April 21-22.
